Each day, Infosec Advent™ will try to teach you a new skill. With the exception of the Windows operating system, we will not require any paid tools. The goal of Infosec Advent is to help you develop new skills and hone existing skills to a razor sharp edge. In the interest of full transparency, we should mention how much cooler this would have been if it had started on December 1st. Operational concerns (incident response and some other business stuff) set us back almost two weeks. We almost decided not to run it this year. But then we thought that was dumb - when it comes to free learning, we figured late is better than never. It's also probably worth noting that all of the challenges we posted as of the 12th involve soft skills. We've got some hard skill stuff coming, but to launch with it on the go-live date would have delayed us further. That said, soft skill challenges are accessible to a wider range of people, so I suppose it isn't that bad. Anyway, here we are...
Each day, we will release a new challenge. Some of these are thought exercises where we are generally interested in sponsoring the best thoughts to rise to the top. In other cases, we will provide a data set and ask you to answer a few questions. As always, the more thought you put into it, the more likely it is you'll win.
Win what you ask? We're setting aside $1,000 in prizes. For each day's challenge, we'll award a $25 Amazon gift card for the winner. We're going to do two random draws at the end for $50 Amazon gift cards. The person with the most wins throughout will be awarded $100 Amazon gift card. We're not sure what we're doing with the rest of our allocated prize money yet, but I'm sure it will be fun.
